Megan Beyer was appointed by President Obama to serve as the Executive Director of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities in November of 2015. She is a communications and strategic advisor who has spent much of her career advocating for arts, education and women in the economy. From 2009-2013 Beyer chaired a bilateral women leader’s project, Sister Republics, with the US Embassy in Switzerland exploring private sector drivers for gender equality in the workplace.

Beyer is active on numerous charitable organizations and political campaigns, and held leadership positions with the Barack Obama presidential campaign.

In 2003, she began working as a panelist with PBS' To the Contrary, a weekly forum for women to discuss national and international issues and policies. An award winning journalist, Beyer regularly writes for The Huffington Post, Role Reboot, and The SHRIVER Report on the glass ceiling and gender workplace issues. She has been a frequent columnist to various other publications, including the Alexandria Times and Times Community Newspapers, a chain in Northern Virginia.

She served on the Virginia State Board for Community Colleges; on the board of the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education; is a former trustee of Washington's public television station, WETA-TV; and the national board of Reading Is Fundamental.
